May 10, 2010 - May 14, 2010
The Lord chose to bless us with some cool, wet weather for the first part of the past week.  So, the contractors were not able to do any work on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.  Thursday was a Holy Day, so no work was done.  On Friday, Empfield Construction began over-excavating another 18”–24” of very spongy soil.  Below this soil was some sandy soil which will provide a much better base.  They were also able to begin the process of filling and re-compacting the trench where the footings for the west wall of the church will be.  These areas will need to be tested for the proper soil compaction as the fill dirt is added.  When the areas receive approval from the soil compaction tests, then the footing areas will be filled and re-compacted up to about a foot below the finished floor grade.  Then the footings will be excavated.  Hopefully this work will able be able to be done this next week.
