June 7, 2010 - June 11, 2010
On Monday Empfield Construction finished filling and compacting the 6”-9” with a different type of soil (which will include more “long grain sand” in the soil) to bring the level of the ground to the proper level.  It rained almost every evening this past week, which left the ground too wet to dig the trenches for the footings.  However, workers from Simon Contractors were still busy completing the installation of the “batter boards” (which are set up outside the corners of the new church to help with the accurate layout of the footings).  Simon Contractors also continued assembling the re-bars which will be put into the pad footings and footings.  In addition they assembled the anchor bolts and column base plates for the steel columns.  Having these pieces assembled will speed up the process of getting the footings ready for concrete, once the ground is dry enough to dig the trenches.
