Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish
Building our New Church
Monday, not much work was done due to the wet weather. On
Tuesday, and Wednesday, due to the wind, work was slower. Each
day, workers from Covert Custom Carpentry from Kearney worked on the
roof of the church. They assembled and installed “cant strips” so
that the TGI’s would rest on the cant strips. They continued to
assemble and install the TGI rafters at a distance of 1 ft apart.
In installing the TGI rafters they used the ½” particle board
“V” shaped pieces and also rectangular pieces of ½” particle
board on each side of the 12” pre-engineered rafters at the location
where the rafters attached to the “cant strips”. They finished
installing the TGI rafters over the Narthex, Nave & Sanctuary
area. They also installed the eave boards at bottom ends of TGI
On a couple of days, workers from Mitchell Drywall continued to install a few more metal studs for the exterior walls. They also installed flat metal strips horizontally about every 4’. They will be behind the seams of the plywood on the exterior of the outside walls, and also behind the seams of the drywall on the interior walls.
